Boiler Problems
With a regular boiler service, boiler problems are kept to a minimum and the size of the problem is usually small. When a boiler problem arises we have gas safe registered engineers (corgi registered) who can reach anywhere in the UK within 30-90 minutes*. We realise your safety is of the utmost importance and because of this our vans are stocked with the most commonly used parts for boiler repair. Common boiler problems to look out for include...
Water Leaks
A water leak is not always easy to spot as the water may evaporate quickly. However if you check your pressure gauge it should read somewhere between the 1 and 1.5 level. It should never drop below 0.5. If you find that it has dropped below 0.5 we can have a gas engineer to your door within 30-90 minutes*.
Loss of pressure
A loss of pressure is not always due to a water leak. Most modern combination boilers will be pressurised with the water entering its system from the mains cold through a device called the ‘filling loop’. Any loss of pressure in a modern combination boiler therefore can be fixed by adding water through the filling loop to the system.
Blockages
Blockages can be detected by a loss of heat or abnormal readings from the pressure gauge. If you think the blockage may be caused by water in your heating system (radiators), we can perform power flushing or descaling to have your heating system back in full working order. As with all boiler faults it is always imperative that you contact a gas safe registered engineer.
Ignition Fault
A problem with the boiler ignition will usually be related to either the ignition lead, spark electrode or the spark generator. Our gas engineers can quickly and easily fix an ignition fault with replacement parts readily available.
Noisey Boiler
A boiler can often signal a problem by abnormal noises. One distinct noise, often termed as a "kettle-ing" noise is caused by the boiler over heating due to a faulty boiler stat. A faulty boiler stat can cause the system to overflow so it is very important to have your boiler checked asap. A loud banging noise usually indicates a pump is nearing the end of its lifespan and needs replacing.
